Owaisi Mocks Assam CM Over Auto Fare Comments, Sparks Political Firestorm

AIMIM chief and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi launched a scathing attack on Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma. Addressing an election rally in Nizamabad, Owaisi called him a “two-rupee beggar.”

This controversial statement came when Owaisi asked the crowd for a two-rupee coin on stage and, waving it in the air, responded to the Assam CM in his own language. This entire incident was a reaction to a recent statement made by Himanta Biswa Sarma. During the rally, Owaisi asked the crowd for a two-rupee coin, and as soon as he received it, he began to mock the Assam Chief Minister.

Owaisi’s Controversial Statement

Waving the coin, Owaisi said, “This is two rupees. The Chief Minister of Assam is saying that if the Miyan Muslims there give someone a ride in an auto-rickshaw, and if the fare is 5 rupees, then they should charge only 4 rupees. Himanta Biswa Sarma, I am giving you this two-rupee alms, will you take it? Tell me!” The entire crowd erupted in applause at Owaisi’s style. He further added, “Tell me, you are a two-rupee beggar, I know you. You are such a petty man, such a small-minded man that you are after the four or five rupees of a poor auto driver.”

This controversy is linked to the Assam Chief Minister’s statement in which he alleged that the ‘Miyan Muslims’ of Assam (Muslims of Bengali origin) lure people by keeping lower prices for goods in their shops and lower fares in their auto-rickshaws. Sarma had termed this as part of a ‘love jihad’ and a conspiracy for population growth. Owaisi mocked this ‘economic jihad’ statement and called him ‘anti-poor’.

‘We will not tolerate the insult of our community’

Owaisi argued that a Chief Minister commenting on the earnings of a poor auto driver reflects his mindset. Owaisi’s speech is now going viral on social media and has become a topic of discussion in political circles. In his address, he made it clear that he will not tolerate any kind of insult or narrow-minded statements against his community.
