Aadhaar in Google Wallet: Google has announced a partnership with UIDAI, the Aadhaar issuing body in India, and with this new partnership, Indian users are going to get another new facility. Now, Aadhaar-based digital ID support has been added to the Google Wallet app for Indian users. After this, users will be able to save Aadhaar verifiable credentials directly in Google Wallet. In simple words, Aadhaar will be saved digitally in Google Wallet, and with this, users will be able to prove their identity digitally, easily and securely.
What will be the benefit of this new feature of Google?
Through this feature, people will have the freedom that they will not need to carry the physical Aadhaar card with them all the time and Google is providing this facility through which you will be able to verify your identity and age digitally. This new feature will reduce the need for people to carry physical documents and will make it easier to prove identity digitally. A facility like selective disclosure has also been provided in this, due to which only limited information will be shared as per the need. Keeping the safety and privacy of the users in focus, identity verification has been made easier and faster than before.
Google Wallet will change the way it works through Aadhaar
Once your Aadhaar is saved in Google Wallet, using a feature like Selective Disclosure, you’ll find it easier to verify your identity only if it’s needed. Not all Aadhaar details will be shared. If you only need to confirm your age, only those details will be shared, and the rest will not be disclosed.
It can be used for many daily use tasks like age verification or identity verification in different services. Initial partners include PVR INOX, BharatMatrimony and Atlys. Apart from this, platforms like Mygate and Snabbit will also be able to use this feature soon, which will make it easier to check the identity of delivery and service staff. With this feature in Atlys, it will also prove helpful in auto-filling the form while applying for an international visa.
The company claims that this system is based on global safety standards, ensuring it will be completely safe for users. Google also stated that it is expanding the Digital ID feature to other countries around the world, allowing users to create their own digital identities based on passports.
