Assam News: The Supreme Court heard today the Assam government’s petition against Congress leader Pawan Khera. The court stayed the Telangana High Court’s decision. During the hearing, Special Judicial Magistrate (SG) Tushar Mehta, representing the Assam government, stated that the crime occurred in Assam and the case was filed in Assam. The Supreme Court noted that Pawan has also sought an extension of his anticipatory bail. The Special Judicial Magistrate (SG) asked why he did not approach the Assam High Court. The SG sought a stay on the Telangana High Court order.
A bench of Justices JK Maheshwari and Atul S Chandurkar issued notice to Pawan Khera, seeking a response within three weeks. The court also stayed the Telangana High Court’s decision.

Congress spokesperson Pawan Khera claimed in a press conference that Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma’s wife, Riniki Bhuyan Sarma, holds passports from three different countries, including Muslim countries. Khera also alleged that the Assam Chief Minister’s wife has undeclared assets abroad.
Assam police had reached Kheda’s residence
Following Kheda’s allegations, Riniki Bhuyan Sarma filed an FIR with the Crime Branch of the Guwahati Police Commissionerate. Assam Police also visited Kheda’s Delhi residence while investigating the case. Kheda subsequently secured bail from the Telangana High Court, which has now been stayed by the Supreme Court.
