This statement comes at a time when the investigation into Zubin Garg’s death in Singapore is still ongoing.
CID Says Viral Report Completely False
The Assam CID shared a photo of the post-mortem report circulating on social media, calling it “completely fabricated.” The department stated that the report was not issued by any official source and was intended solely to spread rumors. The CID appealed to the public not to believe or share such false information. They also clarified that the investigation team is closely examining every aspect of the case to uncover the truth. Officials stated that strict legal action will be taken against any individual or organization spreading misinformation.

Five accused remanded to judicial custody
According to news agency PTI, five accused linked to Zubin Garg’s death have been remanded to judicial custody after their police remand ended. These include Shyamkanu Mahanta, the main organizer of the North East India Festival (NEIF), Zubin’s manager Siddharth Sharma, his cousin and DSP of the Assam Police, Sandipan Garg, and his two personal security officers (PSOs), Nandeshwar Bora and Prabin Baishya. The Chief Judicial Magistrate of Kamrup ordered the transfer of the accused to the new jail in Musalpur, Baksa district, which has a very low inmate population, for their safety. The court ordered that all accused be kept in a secure environment until the investigation is completed.
Reports revealed that organizer Shyamkanu Mahanta and manager Siddharth Sharma were arrested from Delhi on October 1. They were charged under several sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) including culpable homicide not amounting to murder, criminal conspiracy, and causing death by negligence. The murder charge was later added. Jubin’s cousin, Sandipan Garg, who was with him in Singapore at the time of the incident, was arrested on October 8. His two personal security officers were arrested on October 10. Two other band members—Shekhar Jyoti Goswami and singer Amritprava Mahanta—were also arrested on October 3.
The Assam CID has also launched a separate investigation against Shyamkanu Mahanta, accusing him of organized financial crimes and possession of benami properties. The state government has formed a 10-member Special Investigation Team (SIT) to investigate Jubin Garg’s death. He reportedly died by drowning in the sea in Singapore on September 19. More than 60 FIRs have been filed across Assam in connection with the case. The Chief Minister has directed the DGP to hand over all the cases to the CID and conduct a thorough investigation as a consolidated case.
