Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Tuesday outlined clear timelines for government appointments and the rollout of the Chief Minister’s Atmanirbhar Asom Abhiyan (CM AAA), assuring citizens that key processes will be completed before the Model Code of Conduct for upcoming elections comes into effect. Speaking in a live session addressing public queries, Sarma provided updates on various schemes and appointments, aiming to bring clarity and certainty to thousands of students and job aspirants across the state.
CM AAA to Benefit 75,000 Students
On the CM AAA scheme, which seeks to make young people self-reliant through financial aid and livelihood support, Sarma said approximately 75,000 students are expected to benefit. “The selection process is currently underway, and by the end of January we will announce when beneficiaries will start receiving the scheme benefits,” he said. The Chief Minister also revealed plans for district-wise distribution programmes, stating that each district will host a programme to hand over the benefits. The rollout is planned between January 15 and February 15, ensuring organized and transparent distribution across Assam.
Health Sector and ADRE Appointments
Regarding government appointments, CM Sarma provided specific dates for the health sector, stating that appointments under the Directorate of Health Services (DHS) and the Directorate of Medical Education (DME) will be issued on December 22. Candidates selected under the 3% reservation for tea tribes will receive their letters a day later, on December 23. Addressing delays in the Assam Direct Recruitment Examination (ADRE) process, Sarma explained the complexity of coordinating appointments across 38 departments and multiple districts, as well as additional medical checks for specially-abled candidates. He assured aspirants that Grade IV posts appointments will be issued by January 10, Grade III posts by January 15, and other departmental appointments by February 15.
SSA Teachers and Election Timeline Considerations
CM Sarma also addressed teachers selected under the Sarba Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) special recruitment drive, assuring them that their appointment letters will be issued by February 10. He emphasised the government’s commitment to completing all recruitment processes before the Model Code of Conduct comes into effect, ensuring there is no disruption due to upcoming elections. These announcements are expected to bring much-needed relief to students and job aspirants across Assam, many of whom have been waiting for clarity on scheme benefits and appointment schedules.
