Abhinav Gautam, a student and player of College of Veterinary Science Khanapara of Assam Agricultural University, has brought laurels to the entire state by winning a bronze medal in the Asian Armwrestling Championship 2025. This prestigious competition was held in New Delhi on May 3 in which top players from 21 countries of Asia participated. Abhinav performed brilliantly in the 75 kg weight category among players from powerful countries like Japan, Iran and Kazakhstan. He displayed great strength and technique in tough matches and secured third place.
Abhinav became an example of strength and struggle
Behind this success of Abhinav Gautam is his hard work and determination. Balancing college studies and tough armwrestling training is not easy for any youth, but Abhinav made it possible with his passion. In this championship, he competed with experienced players from countries like Iran, Thailand and Uzbekistan and stood firm. His medal is not just a personal achievement but a big achievement for India, which proves the country’s strong presence in international armwrestling.

Support of coach and family became a source of inspiration
After his victory, Abhinav expressed his heartfelt gratitude to his coach, mentor and family. He said that this victory is not only mine but of all those who believed in me and supported me at every step. Expressing gratitude to his teachers and training team, he said that if he had not got guidance and mental support, it would have been very difficult to reach this point. The encouragement of family and friends gave him the strength to fight every challenge.
India’s growing strength on the international stage
Players from countries like Kyrgyzstan, Korea, Philippines, Thailand, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, UAE, Jordan, Mongolia, China, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia and Pakistan participated in this championship. Winning a medal for India in such a big international competition is a matter of pride in itself. This achievement of Abhinav inspires not only Assam but the entire country that if there is dedication and hard work, then no stage is small. In the coming times, he can become a role model for the youth and take India to new heights in global sports.
