After recently winning her first National Film Award, Rani Mukerji revealed the special reason behind the necklace she wore to the awards ceremony in Delhi. The 47-year-old actress wore a unique necklace engraved with her daughter Adira’s initials. The necklace became the most talked-about item at the ceremony and garnered attention on social media.
This was a special gesture for her daughter Adira
Speaking to India Today, Rani Mukerji explained that the purpose of wearing the necklace was to feel her daughter with her on that day. She said Adira was extremely excited to attend the ceremony, but was deeply saddened when she was told that children under 14 would not be allowed inside. Rani recalled, “She was screaming loudly because she wanted to be a part of the National Awards ceremony. It was ‘unfair’ that she couldn’t be with me on my special day.”
Necklace as a Lucky Charm
Rani Mukerji further explained that wearing this necklace was the closest way for her to keep her daughter close in spirit. She said, “She’s my lucky charm. I wanted her with me, and this was the closest way I could feel her near me.” This necklace not only brought Rani psychological comfort, but it also gave Adira a pleasant feeling of being connected with her mother on her special day.
Gratitude and a Special Experience
Rani Mukerji also thanked everyone who saw and shared photos and videos of this necklace on social media. She said, “I want to thank everyone who made Instagram Reels and videos and said, ‘Rani took her daughter with her.’ I showed this to Adira, and it calmed her down.” Rani also shared that winning this award with Shah Rukh Khan, whom she calls the “Eternal Rahul” of her life, was a very special experience for her.
