Soumya Swaminathan: Corona virus cases have started increasing again in the country. So far, the number of corona infected patients in India has reached 2710. New cases are coming up rapidly in many states. Especially in Kerala, Maharashtra, Delhi and Gujarat, there are more active cases of corona. According to the latest report of the Ministry of Health, this wave of corona is now spreading slowly, but the government is constantly alert and advising people to take precautions.
No need to fear corona – Soumya Swaminathan
Former Chief Scientist of the World Health Organization (WHO), Dr. Soumya Swaminathan has said not to worry about the increase in corona cases. He says that the corona virus will now always be with us and its cases will increase in the coming months. But there is no need to be afraid because our immunity is strong and vaccination has helped protect us from infection. He told that now the corona infection is very mild and most people recover without much trouble.

Antibiotics are not needed in the treatment of corona
Dr. Soumya Swaminathan has advised not to misuse antibiotics in the treatment of corona. She said that antibiotics are not effective in viral infections like COVID-19, flu or other respiratory diseases. Corona patients should be treated only according to the symptoms. Such as drinking hot water, gargling etc. Antibiotics are necessary only when another bacterial disease occurs along with the infection. Therefore, medicines should not be taken without consulting a doctor.

Corona patients increasing rapidly in Maharashtra
Corona cases have also increased in Maharashtra. According to the report of the state’s public health department, 84 new cases have been reported recently. So far this year, the total number of corona cases in Maharashtra has reached 681. Currently, the number of active patients in the state is 467. The government has appealed to the public to be cautious and follow the health rules so that this new wave of corona can be stopped.
