Samay Raina accused of spreading obscenity, questioned by Guwahati Police

Popular YouTuber Samay Raina appeared before Assam Police on Saturday. This appearance was in connection with the investigation of allegations of allegedly spreading obscenity in an online show. In this case registered by Guwahati Police, Samay Raina and four other social media influencers are accused of spreading obscene and objectionable content on a public platform.

Samay Raina recorded his statement before the police

Samay Raina had already informed the police that he was on a foreign trip, but now after returning, he appeared at the Crime Branch office in Guwahati and recorded his statement. A senior police officer has confirmed this. The police is investigating this entire matter seriously and the concerned people are being questioned from time to time.

Case registered under these sections, names of five influencers in FIR

The FIR in this case was registered on February 10, which includes sections such as the Indian Justice Code (BNS), IT Act, Cinematograph Act of 1952 and Prohibition of Indecent Representation of Women Act of 1986. Apart from Samay Raina, the names of YouTuber Ranveer Allahabadia (BeerBiceps), Ashish Chanchlani, Jaspreet Singh and Apoorva Makhija are also included in this FIR. Apart from this, the name of the owner of the place where the show was recorded has also been registered in the FIR.

Some have recorded their statements, some are still abroad

Ranveer Allahabadia was already called for questioning by the police on March 7, in which he cooperated fully. The Supreme Court did give him protection from arrest, but termed the things said on the show as ‘obscene’. Ashish Chanchlani was the first to appear before the police in this case on February 27. He had already taken anticipatory bail from the Guwahati High Court on February 7. On the other hand, Jaspreet Singh and Apoorva Makhija have not yet appeared before the police in person and are in contact only through email, citing foreign travel. The police have issued summons to them again.
