Gaurav Gogoi has recently been appointed as the new President of Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) and Deputy Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha. He will formally take charge of his new post on June 3. On Wednesday, a preparatory meeting was held at Rajiv Bhawan with great zeal and enthusiasm in which plans were made for the welcome and programs of Gaurav Gogoi. A lot of enthusiasm was seen among the Congress workers about this. In the preparatory meeting, Working President Zakir Hussain Sikdar and General Secretary Vipul Gogoi told the journalists the complete outline of Gaurav Gogoi’s arrival in Assam.
Gaurav Gogoi will reach Jorhat on May 31
On May 31, Gaurav Gogoi will reach Jorhat directly from New Delhi. There he will meet the local public and Congress workers and organize meetings. On June 1, he will go to Nazira where he will attend a meeting organized by Leader of Opposition in Assam Assembly Debabrata Saikia. There he will interact with party workers and local people. After this, he will stay overnight in Sivasagar and then reach Nagaon via Jorhat and Golaghat. In Nagaon, he will hold discussions with the party organization and address a public meeting.
Will take charge on June 3 in Guwahati
After Nagaon, Gaurav Gogoi and his team will leave for Guwahati. On June 3, he will hold a meeting with party leaders and workers at Manvendra Sharma Complex in Guwahati. On the same day, he will formally take over as the President of Assam Pradesh Congress Committee. All senior leaders and workers of the Congress party will be present on this special occasion. Gaurav Gogoi on Wednesday sought cooperation and support from all the citizens of Assam through a video message so that they can create a new Assam that is free from corruption and fear.
A large number of leaders and workers attended the meeting
Former MP Ripun Bora, Abdul Khaleque, Mira Borthakur, President of Mahila Congress, Vice President Gunakanta Gogoi, Nripen Thakuria, Rupa Deuri, MLAs Rakibuddin Ahmed, Diganta Barman, Shibmani Bora, Nurul Huda, A.K. Rashid and almost all the MLAs were present. Apart from this, General Secretary Ramanna Barua, Deep Bayan, State Congress Seva Dal President Jurir Anam, Youth Congress President and Presidents and Secretaries of almost all the front organizations of Congress attended the meeting. A huge crowd of Congress leaders and workers was seen in this meeting, which clearly shows that a wave of new enthusiasm and hope is running in the party.
