Following the sudden demise of popular Assamese singer Zubin Garg, his wife, Garima Saikia Garg, has strongly demanded justice. On Saturday, Garima said that if someone has done something wrong, that person should be punished. She also expressed confidence that the government and legal system will take the right steps in this case. Garima said, “Whatever the government and legal system have decided is in the right direction. This is not just any ordinary case; it is Zubin Garg’s case. I have full faith in the legal system. They will take the right decision. Zubin Garg should get justice.”
Allegation: Zubin was poisoned
Garima’s statements come after the arrest of her singing partner, Shekhar Jyoti Goswami. Goswami claimed that Zubin was poisoned in Singapore by his manager, Siddharth Sharma, and festival organizer, Shyamkanu Mahanta. Goswami, Sharma, and Amritprabha Mahanta have been arrested and sent to 14-day police remand in connection with the case. According to the arrest note, Goswami told authorities that a conspiracy was hatched to present Zubin’s death as an accident. Sharma’s behavior was also found suspicious.
Goswami alleged that Sharma and Shyamkanu Mahanta deliberately poisoned Zubin and attempted to conceal their conspiracy by choosing a foreign location. He also said that Sharma had asked him not to share videos of the yacht with anyone. This disclosure is recorded in the “Detailed Grounds of Arrest” released by the police.
