Assam: Nine-year-old Binita Chetry of Talbalijan village in Guwahati has brought laurels to India by securing the second runner-up position in the world famous reality show ‘Britain’s Got Talent’. Coming from the hilly area of Karbi Anglong, Binita has won everyone’s heart with her talent on the biggest stages of the world. On this success, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma congratulated Binita and said that she has proudly raised the name of the entire state and the country.

Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma wrote in his social media post that Binita has mesmerized the audience from Brahmaputra to Thames River with her dance art. He wished Binita all the best for the future and hoped that she will touch new heights in future too. The Chief Minister said that Binita has increased the pride of India with her hard work and dedication. Both Assam and the country are feeling proud of this achievement.
Binita’s journey and family support
Binita secured third place in the finals of the show held on Saturday night. Her family said that she is the first Indian contestant to reach the finals of this show. Binita’s father Amar Cheteri runs a small broiler chicken farm and is also active in social work. Recognizing his daughter’s talent, he got her dance training done in Guwahati and Jaipur. Binita’s dance coach Hardik Rawat and her aunt Amrita Devi also supported her a lot. Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council Chief Executive Member Tuliram Ronghang provided financial assistance of Rs 5 lakh for the preparation of the finals, while local MLA and Deputy Speaker of Assam Legislative Assembly Numal Momin also supported Binita.

Binita thanked all her supporters and viewers wholeheartedly in a video on the show’s official social media page. She especially thanked the viewers of Britain who voted for her and made her win. Binita said that the inspiration she received from India, Nepal, Bhutan and other Asian countries gave her the strength to move forward on this platform. She also sent her thank you message to Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and expressed her desire to meet him personally. Binita’s dance routine included difficult and complicated moments like backflips, which were highly appreciated by the judges and the audience.
