JNU Students Election 2025: Left United dominates, captures all four seats, Aditi Mishra becomes president

JNU Students Election 2025: The results of the Jawaharlal Nehru University Students’ Union (JNUSU) elections 2025 have been declared. This time, the Left United alliance has achieved a historic victory, capturing all four key positions. From President to Joint Secretary, the Left United alliance won all positions. Aditi Mishra won the President position, K. Gopika became Vice President, Sunil Yadav was elected General Secretary, and Danish Ali secured the Joint Secretary position. This victory not only strengthens the Left United’s hold on JNU politics but also demonstrates its unity and organizational capabilities on campus.

Results and Vote Breakdown for Each Position

The contest for the President position was fierce, with Aditi Mishra of the Left United winning 1,861 votes, while Vikas Patel of the ABVP received 1,447 votes. For the Vice President position, K. Gopika (Left United) performed remarkably well, securing 2,966 votes, while Tanya Kumari of the ABVP received 1,730 votes.
The Left United maintained its lead in the General Secretary position as well. Sunil Yadav (Left United) received 1,915 votes, while ABVP’s Rajeshwar Kant Dubey received 1,841 votes. Danish Ali (Left United) won the Joint Secretary position with 1,991 votes, while ABVP’s Anuj Damara received 1,762 votes. These results clearly demonstrate the Left United’s complete dominance in student politics this time.

JNU Students Election 2025: Left United dominates, captures all four seats, Aditi Mishra becomes president

Last year, the ABVP broke the Left’s dominance.

It is noteworthy that in the 2024-25 elections, the Left alliance won three out of four positions, while the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) made a comeback after ten years by winning the Joint Secretary position. Nitish Kumar (AISA) became President, Manisha (DSF) won the Vice President position, and Munteha Fatima (DSF) became General Secretary. Vaibhav Meena (ABVP) won the post of Joint Secretary, which was considered a major achievement for the ABVP at the time. However, in 2025, the ABVP could not stand up to the Left United, losing all four key positions. With this victory, the Left United not only made up for last year’s loss but also signaled the strength of its organization.

67 Percent Turnout, Voting Held in Two Sessions

Voting for the JNU Students’ Union elections was held in two sessions on November 4th. The first session ran from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., and the second from 2:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. This time, a total of 67 percent voter turnout was recorded, which is considered good compared to previous years. The elections were conducted peacefully, and the results made it clear that JNU students once again stand in favor of left-wing politics. According to political analysts, this result reflects the strength of ideology-based politics on the campus and sends the message that the Left United still holds sway in the mainstream of JNU.
