The National Testing Agency (NTA) has begun the application process for the January session of the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE Main 2026). Candidates seeking admission to the country’s top engineering institutes, such as IITs, NITs, and IIITs, can now apply by visiting the official website, jeemain.nta.nic.in. The application deadline is November 27, 2025 (9 p.m.), and application fees can be paid until November 27 (11:50 p.m.). According to the NTA, the JEE Main January session 2026 will be conducted between January 21 and 30, 2026. This time, the exam will be conducted in 13 languages—English, Hindi, Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, and Urdu—to provide students across the country with the opportunity to take the exam in their own languages.
JEE Main Exam Schedule and Language Options
Paper 1 (BE/BTech) under JEE Main 2026 will be conducted in two shifts—the first shift will be from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM, while the second shift will be from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM. Paper 2A (BArch) and Paper 2B (BPlanning) will be conducted from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM. The NTA has clarified that the exam city details will be released by the first week of January, while the admit card date will be announced later. The exam results are expected to be declared by February 12, 2026. This time the exam will be completely computer-based (except for the drawing test), ensuring transparency and fairness.
JEE Main 2026 Paper Pattern and Question Structure
Paper 1 (BE/BTech) will have a total of 75 questions, with 25 questions each from Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry. Each subject will have two sections—Section A (MCQs) will consist of 20 questions and Section B (Numerical Type Questions) will consist of 5 questions. Paper 2A (B.Arch.) will have a total of 77 questions—25 from Mathematics, 50 from Aptitude Test, and 2 from Drawing Test. Similarly, Paper 2B (B.Planning) will have 100 questions—25 from Mathematics, 50 from Aptitude Test, and 2 from Planning Section. Each correct answer in the exam will carry 4 marks, while there will be negative marking of 1 mark for each incorrect answer. This pattern allows students to prepare for a balanced preparation across various subjects.

The application process for JEE Main 2026 is completely online. Candidates must first visit the website jeemain.nta.nic.in and click on the “JEE Main 2026 Application” link. Then, fill in the required details in the application form, upload all required documents, pay the application fee online, and submit the form. After submitting the application, save the PDF copy and retain a printout. The application process began on October 31, 2025, and the deadline for submitting forms is November 27, 2025 (9 p.m.).
