Himanta Biswa Sarma will raise the election slogan with three big rallies, enthusiasm will be seen in Barak Valley

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and Bharatiya Janata Party state president Dilip Saikia on Saturday released the manifesto for the panchayat elections at the party headquarters in Guwahati. This manifesto has been described as a roadmap to increase prosperity in the villages. The BJP has promised that the road and sub-road of every village will be beautified. Along with this, a pledge has also been taken to build about 47 thousand kilometers of road under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana. The party has also expressed its commitment to hone sports talent in the villages, mentioning programs like Khel Maharan and Cultural Mahasangram.

BJP’s focus from rural development to culture

The manifesto states that the BJP has awakened a new ray of hope and confidence at every level from the sports ground of the villages to the cultural platform. Chief Minister Sarma informed that he will address three big rallies in Barak Valley to get the blessings of the people for the NDA candidates. According to him, public meetings will be held in Cachar district at 11 am, in Sribhumi at 12:30 pm and in Hailakandi at 2:30 pm. This time, along with development, the BJP’s emphasis is also on promoting youth in villages and giving a platform to their talents.

BJP’s confident claims and the weak position of the opposition

On April 21, Assam minister Piyush Hazarika had expressed confidence that the BJP would register a landslide victory in the panchayat elections. He said that the Congress has now become ineffective in the state and there is no strong opposition in front of the BJP. Hazarika claimed that people will vote for the BJP under the leadership of Narendra Modi and Himanta Biswa Sarma. Chief Minister Sarma had already informed that the NDA alliance has won 37 Zilla Parishad seats (35 BJP and 2 Assam Gana Parishad) and 288 Anchalik Panchayat seats (259 BJP and 29 AGP) without contest. He called it an unprecedented mandate in the political history of Assam.

Congress also released its manifesto and election preparations are in full swing

The Congress party also recently released its manifesto at Rajiv Bhawan in Guwahati in the presence of Assam Pradesh Congress Committee President Bhupen Kumar Borah and senior leader and former MP Ripun Bora. Panchayat elections in Assam will be held in two phases on May 2 and May 7 while the counting of votes will be done on May 11. More than 1.80 crore voters will exercise their franchise in this election, which includes 90.71 lakh male voters, 89.65 lakh female voters and 408 other voters. Voting arrangements have been made at a total of 25007 polling stations and all the parties have started finalizing their preparations.
