Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma inaugurated development works worth over Rs 1 billion on the first day of his two-day visit to Karbi Anglong. At a public event held near Rengbonghom High School in Diphu, the Chief Minister launched the upgradation of roads and bridges, which is a significant step towards improving regional connectivity. With this inauguration, the Chief Minister made clear the commitment of the state government towards enhancing facilities in the lives of the people of the region.
CM’s emphasis in Anganwadi Centres program
Assam Chief Minister stressed the importance of Anganwadi centers during a separate program and distributed pre-school kits for children there. He said on the occasion that early education is extremely important for the academic development of children and it builds strong infrastructure in the future. The Chief Minister also assured that the salary of Anganwadi workers and assistants will be increased from October 1, and in addition one-time financial assistance will also be provided. This move will give more respect and support to the Anganwadi workers for their work.

Major changes taking place in the field of higher education in Karbi Anglong
Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma also mentioned the ongoing projects to promote higher education in Karbi Anglong district. He informed that medical college, engineering college, Sainik School and a cancer hospital are being set up in this district. This step will not only provide opportunities for local students to get higher education but will also play an important role in the development of the region. These projects will improve the level of education in remote areas of Karbi Anglong and generate new employment opportunities for the youth here.
Chief Minister reviewed major infrastructure projects
Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma also reviewed the major infrastructure projects going on in Karbi Anglong. He inquired about the progress of the four-lane flyover to be built at a cost of Rs 1.98 billion in Diphu, a 29.7 km road from Hamren to Tumpreng and a 23 km long road widening project in West Karbi Anglong. These projects will not only improve regional connectivity but will also provide better road facilities to the local people. Also, the government will provide a fund of Rs 10 million for the construction of Bhupen Hazarika Stage. Apart from this, statues of Reng Bonghom and Queen Kareng Terongpi were also unveiled, which depict the historical importance of Karbi Anglong.
