Assam: On Thursday, the Anti-Narcotics Intelligence Unit (ANIU) arrested three youths with heroin near the Foreshore Estate in Chennai. The three arrested were handed over to the Foreshore Estate police. The police recovered 17.5 grams of heroin from them. Police said that these youths used to bring heroin from Assam and sell it in Chennai.

ANIU kept a close watch on suspicious activity near Foreshore Estate

The ANIU team received information on Thursday that there were some suspicious people in the Srinivasapuram area. Therefore, the team kept a vigil in the Foreshore Estate area near the Adyar river. The three youths roaming around as suspects were stopped for questioning. When searched, drugs were found with them. After this, their house was also searched. During this search, the police recovered a total of 17.5 grams of heroin.

The police identified the three accused as Ezad Ali (27), Aziz (26) and Imran Ali (27). All three are residents of Assam and were working as security guards in Chennai for the last two years. Investigation revealed that they used to import heroin from Assam and sell it to foreign tourists here. Police say that their business was going on continuously and they were active in the supply of drugs.
