Gaurav Gogoi attacks BJP government, exposes corruption involved in Assam floods

Assam Congress’s new state president Gaurav Gogoi on Sunday launched a scathing attack on the BJP state government. He said that the ruling party of Assam is only engaged in power, money, land and syndicate. Gogoi alleged that the main reason for the severe floods and waterlogging in the state capital Guwahati is the occupation of wetlands. This occupation has been done by the ministers of the state government and their close people. He said that the ministers of the government and the people with their reach are engaged in the development of their personal properties instead of the needs of the public.

People of Guwahati are troubled, allegations of corruption

Gogoi said that the situation in Guwahati is terrible as many areas of the city have been submerged due to continuous heavy rains. People’s lives have been completely affected due to waterlogging. He said that Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and his close ministers see personal interest instead of public interest in development works. Gogoi particularly referred to the road construction near the house of Housing and Urban Affairs Minister Jayanta Malla Barua, which is allegedly an illegal encroachment on wetlands. He said that the policies of the BJP government are only greedy for money and land and are ignoring the needs of the people.
