Assam CM Himanta Biswa on Saturday appealed to Congress leader Rahul Gandhi to remove the name of Deputy Leader in Lok Sabha Gaurav Gogoi from the list of four MPs who are planned to be sent abroad to present India’s stand on Pakistan-sponsored terrorism. Sarma re-posted the list shared by Congress leader Jairam Ramesh and said that in the interest of national security, the MP coming from Assam should not be included in this delegation. Without directly naming the MP, the Chief Minister said that the MP who is accused has not denied staying in Pakistan for two weeks and his wife was taking salary from a Pakistani NGO.
Gaurav Gogoi’s counterattack: Chief Minister should give proof of the allegations made
In response to this allegation, Congress leader Gaurav Gogoi retorted sharply and said that if the Chief Minister has any proof, he should make it public. He asked that if there are such serious allegations against him, then why are the government and intelligence agencies silent till now. Gogoi said that Sarma had earlier claimed that by September 10, evidence of his Pakistani connection would be revealed. On this, Gogoi said that if the Chief Minister has something now, then show it now and show more later. He also asked that when did he go to Pakistan and whether anyone from BJP also went there or only Congress is being questioned.

Names of other MPs also in discussion: Opposition said the government had asked for four names
Apart from Gaurav Gogoi, the list of opposition shared by Jairam Ramesh includes the names of former Union Minister Anand Sharma, Rajya Sabha MP Syed Nasir Hussain and Lok Sabha MP Raja Brar. Congress says that this list was submitted on the demand of the government in which the names of four MPs were sought to present India’s side abroad. This issue has once again intensified the tussle between the ruling and opposition parties where on the one hand serious questions are being raised about national security and on the other hand allegations of political revenge are also being made.
Gogoi’s personal attack: “My children don’t have 18 companies in their names”
Gaurav Gogoi launched a personal attack on Chief Minister Sarma and said that Sarma is angry because his children have 18 companies in their names while he (Gogoi) has neither a tea garden nor a resort nor a plot. He said that Sarma is trying to defame him but he knows the facts so he is calm. Gogoi said that he has no problem but the Chief Minister should tell the public the basis of his allegations. He also demanded that if any BJP leader has any business or family ties with Pakistan, then that should also be made public.
