The state is celebrating Assam Day today. On this special day, CM Himanta Biswa Sarma promised to build a greater Assam, incorporating all ethnic groups in state. He made this statement as state celebrated Assam Day, which commemorates arrival of Chaolung Chukapha, founder of Ahom Kingdom, in 1228 AD.

“On this day, Swargadeo Chaolung Sukaphaa arrived in Assam and laid the foundation of a Greater Assam.” As we celebrate Assam Day, we promise to build a proud, strong and united Greater Assam as per his dream,” he said in a post on X handle.

CM thanked Union Home Minister Amit Shah for occasion. CM Himanta Biswa Sarma Sarma said, “I thank our Home Minister Amit Shah for his greetings on Assam Day. The double-engine government led by PM Narendra Modi has left no stone unturned in preserving and promoting the glorious heritage of the Ahoms and Assam across the world.”

Amit Shah wished the people of Assam on Assam Day in a post on X. The occasion recalled the glory of the Ahom era and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to preserve Assam’s rich culture. “Every Indian is very proud of it.

He said that NDA government, led by PM Narendra Modi, has ushered in an era of peace by making Assam a hub of development and education, and is determined to continue this progress. He also said, “May this day further strengthen our unity and deepen our cultural roots. By honoring our past, we pave the way for a stronger future.” Earlier, the Chief Minister also announced the establishment of Su-Ka-Pha University in Charaideo.
