The state cabinet of Assam has taken an important decision under the chairmanship of CM Himanta Biswa Sarma. Arms licenses will be given to genuine residents and indigenous Indian citizens living in vulnerable, remote and border areas of Assam. This decision was taken in the cabinet meeting held on Wednesday. Its purpose is to strengthen the security of the people living there. Chief Minister Sarma said that this scheme will stop illegal threats and increase the personal security and confidence of the people of these communities.
Arms license scheme will increase security
In this cabinet meeting held at Lok Seva Bhavan, Guwahati, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma approved the special scheme. Under this scheme, arms licenses will be given to genuine residents living in vulnerable and border areas of Assam. The CM Himanta Biswa Sarma clarified that this step is to make those people feel safe who are worried about the safety of their life and property. This scheme will make the local people feel safe as well as improve the law and order in the area.
There will be a major reform in technical education
The cabinet has also approved a project of Rs 250 crore to improve the technical education sector of the state. Under this, 34 polytechnics and 43 government ITI institutes will be converted into ‘Centers of Excellence’. The project will be run in collaboration with Tata Technologies Limited. It aims to provide better skill development opportunities to the youth and open up employment opportunities. This will lead to new development in the technical education sector of Assam and increase the competitiveness of the youth.
The state government has also decided to change the names of three major institutions to honor the great personalities of Assam. This will memorialize the local heroes and their contributions. This move will work to increase the pride and attachment of the people towards their history and culture. Chief Minister Sarma said that this change will be helpful in the social and cultural upliftment of Assam.
