A unique and technology-rich cleaning campaign was carried out at Kamakhya railway station in Assam in which drones were used. This initiative was taken as an experiment by the Northeast Frontier Railway. Railway officials say that this is the first time that drones have been used to clean train coaches and high and difficult places of the railway station. The demo held on Tuesday showed the cleaning of high parts of the station premises and the roofs of the coaches, which gave a glimpse of the new use of technology.
Success in cleaning difficult and high places
This drone cleaning campaign especially included the ‘sick line’ of Kamakhya Coaching Depot, under floor wheel lathe shed, outer dome-shaped parts of the station and many train coaches. Cleaning of these places is normally very difficult and risky, but with the help of drones this work was completed easily and quickly. Kapinjal Kishore Sharma, Chief Public Relations Officer of Northeast Frontier Railway, said that with this drone-based technology, it has become very easy to reach high and inaccessible places. This not only saves time in cleaning work but also improves the quality of work.
Northeast Railway’s new initiative in technology-based cleaning
Railway official Sharma said that this initiative is a big step towards technology-based cleaning of the railways. This is not only modernizing the cleaning work but also giving priority to the safety of the employees. He said that by cleaning with drones, one can easily reach those places where it may be risky for the workers to go. Apart from this, the scope of cleaning also becomes wider and the results are more effective. By adopting such new technologies, the railways is making the entire system more modern and capable.
It can be used at more stations in future
After the successful demonstration of this drone cleaning at Kamakhya station, it is expected that similar technology will be adopted at other stations of Northeast Frontier Railway in future. This will not only help in giving a clean environment to the passengers but will also reduce the risk of cleaning staff. Officials said that if this experiment continues to be successful, then the railways can make it a part of the regular cleaning process. This initiative can give a new height to the cleanliness mission of Railways in which both technology and environment have been taken care of.
