The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has taken a new step to connect students directly to the digital age. Now students from class 9 to 12 will be able to register their direct participation in the official podcasts and social media programs of the board. The board believes that this initiative will make the content related to studies and counseling more student-centric. Already digital content and podcasts are being prepared by CBSE on issues like academic subjects, exam stress, career guidance and counseling, but now the direct voice of the students will also be included in it.
Why is student participation important?
Experts believe that education is not limited to studies and exams, but it also includes the experiences and thoughts of the students. This effort of CBSE will give students an opportunity to express themselves. For this, students will be able to share short videos, audio clips, conversations and their experiences. Such contribution will enhance the creativity, confidence and communication skills of the students. Also, they will get a platform to put forward their views on important issues like education and counseling.
Selection process and enrollment
CBSE has said in its circular that schools should enroll students who are confident, can clearly express themselves and feel comfortable on the digital medium. This participation will be completely voluntary and written consent of the student and parent will be mandatory for this. Schools have been instructed to send the names and brief details of the selected students through this Google Form within 10 days. The selected students will further be included in the digital programs of CBSE.
Sign of change in the education world
This initiative of CBSE shows that now the board does not want to be only an institution conducting the examination, but it wants to make the voice of the students a part of the education dialogue directly. In the coming days, this step will further strengthen the dialogue between the students and the board. With this, the education system will not be limited only to studies and marks, but will also give importance to the thinking, experience and creativity of the students. This initiative is definitely a sign of positive change in the field of education, which will further empower the new generation in the digital world.
