The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has extended the application submission deadline for the CBSE Merit Scholarship Scheme for Single Girl Child to November 20th. This initiative supports meritorious single girl students who have achieved excellent results in the Class 10 board exam and are pursuing their studies in Class 11 and 12 in CBSE-affiliated schools.
According to the latest CBSE notification, eligible students who passed their Class 10 exam in 2025 can apply online on the official CBSE website, cbse.gov.in, until November 20th.
What is the Scholarship Scheme?
The CBSE Single Girl Child Merit Scholarship aims to promote education among girls by recognizing academic excellence. It is applicable to students who are the only child of their parents and have scored 70% or more marks in the CBSE Class 10 exam.
To qualify, students must be studying in Class 11 or 12 at a CBSE-affiliated school, and their tuition fees must not exceed ₹2,500 per month during Class 10 and ₹3,000 per month during Classes 11 and 12. Furthermore, the family’s annual income must not exceed ₹8 lakh, and a notarized self-declaration of income must be uploaded online during the application process.

How to Apply
Students can apply for the CBSE Single Girl Child Scholarship by following these steps:
- Go to the official website, cbse.gov.in.
- Click on ‘Single Girl Child Scholarship X-2025 REG’.
- Select the application type: Fresh or Renewal.
- Click on SGC-X Fresh Application or Renewal.
- Fill out the online form carefully and upload all required documents, including income proof and the first quarter fee slip verified by the school principal.
Selection and Verification Process
To be selected for the scholarship, applicants must meet all eligibility requirements, including academic performance and family income criteria. For renewal, students must have scored 70 percent or more in Class 11 and have been promoted to Class 12.
All applications must be verified by the schools where the students are currently enrolled. CBSE has stated that unverified applications will be rejected, and schools must complete the verification process within the given timeframe.
