In this budget, the government has made several important announcements to strengthen the education sector. The government’s focus was particularly evident on Ayurveda, pharmaceuticals, design, technical education, and student facilities. Budget 2026 clearly indicates a plan to directly link education with employment and development in the coming years.
A major step has been taken in the budget to promote Ayurvedic education. The government has announced the establishment of three new Ayurvedic institutions in the country. Along with this, drug testing labs will also be upgraded to improve the quality control of medicines. The government believes that Ayurveda is not only India’s traditional system of medicine but can also create new opportunities for employment and research. Additionally, the opening of three new Ayurvedic colleges has also been announced. This will provide better facilities for students studying Ayurveda and increase the number of trained doctors in this field.
University Townships to Transform the Educational Landscape
A major announcement in Budget 2026 is the development of five university townships across the country. These townships will provide facilities for education, research, hostels, sports, and startups all in one place. The government aims to provide students with an environment where they can work on new ideas and innovations alongside their studies. The opening of five new universities has also been announced. This will improve access to higher education and create new educational opportunities in different states.
Pharmaceutical Education to Receive a Boost
The government has also given special attention to the pharmaceutical sector in the budget. According to the budget, three new pharmaceutical education institutions will be opened. These institutions will focus on drug manufacturing, research, and quality control. This will help strengthen India’s position in the pharmaceutical sector.
New Design Institute to Open in Eastern India
To promote design and creative education, the government has announced the opening of a new Indian Institute of Design (not IIT, but IIND) in Eastern India. This will prevent students from this region from having to move to other parts of the country and will allow them to receive a better education locally.
ABGC Content Creator Lab Preparation
To enhance digital and creative skills, the government plans to launch the ABGC Content Creator Lab. Under this scheme, with the help of IIT Mumbai, such labs will be established in 15,000 secondary schools and 500 colleges across the country. In these labs, students will be able to learn skills related to digital content, gaming, animation, and new technologies. The Finance Minister also announced the construction of girls’ hostels in every district for higher education institutions.
