Border 2 Movie Review: Full of Patriotism and Emotions, but Slightly Disappointing Due to Weak VFX

‘Border 2’ has arrived on the big screen as a grand war drama, starring Sunny Deol, Varun Dhawan, Diljit Dosanjh, and Ahan Shetty in lead roles. The film is based on the 1971 Indo-Pak war, and like the first ‘Border,’ expectations were high. The story revolves around three friends—Army Officer Hoshiar Singh (Varun Dhawan), Air Force pilot Nirmaljeet Singh (Diljit Dosanjh), and Navy Commander Mahendra Rawat (Ahan Shetty)—who defend the country on their respective fronts. Sunny Deol plays their mentor, Fateh Singh, and his performance is the heart of the film.

In terms of acting, the film is very strong. Sunny Deol’s screen presence, his passion, and his anger are impressive. Varun Dhawan has also silenced his critics with an emotional and sincere performance. Diljit Dosanjh’s Air Force look and Ahan Shetty’s acting are also commendable. The female cast members, despite having limited screen time, leave a lasting impression.

However, the direction doesn’t seem as effective as one would expect from a big-budget film. Instead of focusing on a meticulously crafted narrative, the film seems to rely more on patriotism and star power. Many scenes are good, but the overall quality is inconsistent.

The music adds life to the film. Songs like ‘Ghar Kab Aaoge’ and ‘Mitti Ke Bete’ are heartwarming. However, the film disappoints technically. The VFX, in particular, are weak, and the visuals don’t look sharp in many places.

If you’re looking for a well-crafted story and strong technical visuals, ‘Border 2’ might not meet your expectations. But if you enjoy patriotism, a strong star cast, and emotional war scenes, then this film will be a good watch for you.
