Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma on Saturday said that four Bangladeshi nationals were arrested in Assam’s Sreebhumi district for illegally entering India. The arrested persons have been identified as Mohammed Shon, Mohammed SM Polash, Adas Mollick and Rukhshana Begum. The chief minister said that all of them have been sent back to their country. “In a strong and decisive move against illegal infiltration, Sreebhumi police arrested four Bangladeshi nationals and sent them across the border,” Sarma wrote on the social media platform ‘X’.

Infiltrators were deported earlier too

Earlier also 15 Bangladeshi nationals were deported from Assam. Chief Minister Sharma told on ‘X’ that under strict surveillance on the India-Bangladesh border, Sribhumi district police had caught two Bangladeshi nationals, who were later sent back. Sribhumi, Cachar, Dhubri and South Salmara-Mankachar districts of Assam share a 267.5 km long international border with Bangladesh. Sharma said that the arrested foreign nationals were identified as Irfan Khan and Nurul Afsar.

CM gave strict warning to intruders

Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said there is no place for illegal intruders in Assam. He said due to strict vigilance by the state police, six Bangladeshi nationals were caught and sent across the border. The arrested intruders have been identified as Mustafizur Rahman, Kabbo Cruz, Mohammad Lelin Mia, Sirajul Islam, Saiful Islam and Muktar Hussain.

Strict monitoring of Assam Police will continue

The Chief Minister made it clear that Assam Police will continue its strict action against illegal infiltration. He said that the state government and security agencies are tightening surveillance on the Bangladesh border so that no illegal intruder gets a chance to enter Indian territory. Sharma said, “We are committed to make Assam completely free from illegal intruders.”
