Assam Rifles has achieved a major success in collaboration with Ngop Police. Both of them together had set up a mobile vehicle check post (MVCP) at Teikhang in Saitual area on the night of 26 to 27 May. Checking was done there on the basis of specific information. During this, two persons were stopped with two canoe bikes. On searching them, 758 grams of Heroin No. 4 was recovered from them. The price of this drug is said to be around Rs 5 crore 30 lakh in the market. The arrested persons and the drugs have been handed over to the Ngop Police Station for further investigation.

Major action also took place in Cachar district and heroin recovered

On Tuesday, Assam Police and Assam Rifles took a major action against drugs in Cachar district. In this operation, 648 grams of heroin was seized, whose estimated market price is around Rs 3.5 crore. In this operation, Assam Rifles, Cachar Police and Anti-Rhino Force Intelligence Unit (ARFIU) worked together. The state government is constantly taking strict measures on interstate and international routes to stop drug smuggling. A smuggler has also been arrested in this action.

CM Himanta Biswa Sarma praised the work of the police

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma expressed happiness over this action and posted on the social media platform X. He wrote, “Continuous campaigns are going on against drugs. In a joint operation of @cacharpolice, ARFIU and Assam Rifles, 648 grams of heroin worth Rs 3.5 crore and a pistol were recovered. A smuggler has been arrested.” The Chief Minister praised the efforts of the police and security forces and said that the state government is committed to completely eradicate the drug trade.

Drugs worth crores recovered earlier too

Earlier also, Assam Police had recovered drugs worth crores of rupees in two separate operations. During a vehicle check at Khatkhati checkpost in Karbi Anglong district, police recovered 4.899 kg of morphine worth Rs 5 crore. A drug smuggler was arrested in this operation. On the other hand, police caught a person named Iqbal Hussain Majumdar in Silchar area of ​​Cachar district. 84 grams of heroin was seized from him. The state government has made it clear that the police and security agencies will remain vigilant to end the drug trade in Assam. In the coming time, more stringent steps will be taken so that the future of the youth can be safe.
