Assam: The 93rd Foundation Day of the Indian Air Force is being celebrated with great enthusiasm across the country today. This day is dedicated to the brave air warriors who protect the country’s skies with their courage, dedication, and indomitable spirit. This year’s Air Force Day theme is “Infallible, Impervious, and Precise,” reflecting the operational capability, tenacity, and precision of the Indian Air Force. Several Air Force teams, including the renowned “Suryakiran Aerobatic Team,” are showcasing their spectacular aerobatic skills.
A spectacular air show over the Brahmaputra—60 aircraft are the center of attraction
A grand air show has been organized at Lachit Ghat in Guwahati, where approximately 60 aircraft are performing thrilling aerial maneuvers. These include Rafale, Sukhoi-30 MKI, Mirage, Tejas (LCA), and Apache helicopters. The air show, which lasted from 12:30 pm to 2:00 pm, saw thousands of people witness the precision and skill of the Indian Air Force up close. The flight display included formations named after famous landmarks of Northeast India, such as Lachit, Kaziranga, Manas, Hathi, and Barak, representing a beautiful blend of Indian heritage and modern air power.

Tejas Inaugurates, Pays Tribute to Assamese Hero Lachit Borphukan
The event began with an LCA Tejas aircraft flying the “Lachit” call sign, a tribute to the brave Assamese general Lachit Borphukan. Apache helicopters flew in the “Rhinosaurus” formation, a tribute to Assam’s wildlife. A musical tribute to popular Assamese singer Zubin Garg was also paid to the occasion – the aircraft’s flight playing his famous composition “Mayabini Ratir Buket” filled the atmosphere with patriotic fervor. The grand event was attended by Rajnath Singh, Air Force Chief Air Chief Marshal A. P. Singh, and Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma attended as chief guests.
Public Participation and an Inspiring Display of the Air Force
Citizens, RJD students, and residents of old-age homes were specially invited to watch the air show. Arrangements were made for safe viewing at locations such as the Sati Radhika Shanti Udyan and the Ashwakalanta Temple in Uzan Bazar. The Air Force issued a NOTAM (Notice to Airmen) for safety during the event, and seven airbases, including Guwahati, Tezpur, Hasimara, and Bagdogra, were put on alert. This grand Air Force Day celebration is not only a display of air prowess but also a tribute to the brave air warriors who sacrifice their lives to protect the nation’s borders and skies. This day has become a living symbol of India’s air power, technological excellence, and patriotic spirit.
