Attack on fish vendors in Assam: Arunachal Pradesh’s Papum Pare district for attacking two fish vendors . According to police, the incident took place in Banderdewa area on Wednesday night. The accused, Phasang Nia (56), demanded three kilograms of fish for free from Arun Hazarika and Utpal Das of Assam . When the duo refused to give the fish, Nia attacked them with a machete (sharp weapon) .
The condition of the injured is critical, treatment is going on in the hospital.
In the attack, Arun Hazarika suffered a serious injury on his forehead, while Utpal Das suffered a deep injury in his ribs. After the incident, both of them were immediately admitted to Tomo Riba Institute of Health and Medical Sciences (TRIHMS) , where they are undergoing treatment. Superintendent of Police (SP) Mihin Gambo said that at present the law and order is completely under control and the situation is being monitored.
Coordination between Banderdewa and Assam
Banderdewa is an area bordering North Lakhimpur district of Assam. Coordination has been made between Arunachal and Assam police to avoid tension due to this incident. SP Mihin Gambo said, “I have spoken to the SP of North Lakhimpur so that peace and harmony is maintained in both the states.” The police is investigating the matter deeply and the accused will face strict legal action.
Accused arrested, legal action underway
After the attack, the police took immediate action and arrested the accused Fasang Niya . He is a resident of Palang village in Kurung Kumey district of Arunachal Pradesh , while both the victims are residents of Assam . The police is now investigating further to find out whether there was any other reason behind this attack or it was just a dispute related to asking for free fish . After this incident, fear and anger is being seen among the local people, but the police administration has appealed to maintain peace .
