Assam Saurabh Samman 2024: Assam Governor Laxman Prasad Acharya on Thursday presented the state’s highest civilian awards at a special ceremony held at the Srimanta Sankardev International Auditorium in Guwahati. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma was also present on the occasion. Through these awards, people who brought glory to Assam in various fields were honored.
Lieutenant General Rana Pratap Kalita honored with Assam Vaibhav Samman
The Government of Assam conferred the highest civilian honour of 2024 “Assam Baibhav Award” to retired Lieutenant General Rana Pratap Kalita. The award is given for his exemplary service and contribution to the country. This honour is given to those citizens of Assam who have achieved exceptional achievements in their field and have become an inspiration to the society.
Many personalities honored with Assam Saurabh and Gaurav Award
Assam Saurabh Award was given to people who have made outstanding contributions in the fields of education, science, environment, arts and sports. This time the honor was given to Subramanyam Ramadorai (education), Dr. Bappi Paul and Dr. Purabi Saikia (science and environment), Dwipen Barua (singing), Hemant Dutta (drama) and Uma Chhetri (cricket).
Apart from this, Assam Gaurav Awards were given to individuals who made outstanding contributions in various fields. These include Phuleswari Dutta in wildlife conservation, Meenakshi Das in motorbiking, Parthib Sundar Gogoi in football, Dhirendra Nath Paul and Haridas Das in handicrafts, Binong Teron in social service, Nazrul Haque in fish farming, Biswajit Borah in agriculture, Bharat Chandra Kalita in milk production, Barlangpha Narzari in folk music, Ram Sashoni in art-music, Upamanyu Borkakoti and David Pratim Gogoi in the startup sector, Choran Aham in eco-tourism, Barekuri Village and Hathi Bandhu NGO in wildlife conservation.

Cabinet ministers of the state government, senior officials and other dignitaries were present at this grand ceremony. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said that through these awards, great personalities of Assam are being honored, who have made outstanding contributions in their field. He hoped that this honor will inspire more people to do better in their respective fields.
