Assam News: Malkangiri Adarsh Thana Police has arrested the accused from Assam in a major fraud case. The accused’s name is Debjit Tripathi and he is accused of cheating a businessman of Talsahi area of Malkangiri of Rs 80 lakh. Businessman Jitendra Patra had filed a complaint against the accused on September 4, in which it was told that Tripathi had cheated him of a huge amount by promising huge profits on investment.
Gave lure in the name of commodity trading
In the complaint given to the police, Patra told that Debjit Tripathi came in contact with him in the year 2017. He claimed that he had started a company named ‘Commodity Trading’ in Malkangiri. Tripathi assured that if Patra invests money in it, he will get a profit of 20 percent within three months. After three months on the initial investment, Patra really got profit, which increased his confidence further.

80 lakh rupees lost and the accused absconded
After initially gaining trust, Patra invested a total of Rs 80 lakh through different accounts. But after three months, he did not get any returns. When he tried to contact Tripathi, he had disappeared and fled from Malkangiri. Patra, who became a victim of fraud, felt extremely helpless and finally lodged a complaint with the Malkangiri police.
Five cases already registered against the accused
Malkangiri police started investigation considering the seriousness of the case and arrested the accused from Assam on the basis of technical surveillance. Police said that cases are already registered against Debjit Tripathi in five different cases in Malkangiri police station. Police is now interrogating him further and preparations are underway to present him in court. It is expected that more cases may be revealed during interrogation.
