The announcement was made through an official press release issued by Congress General Secretary K.C. Venugopal, confirming the formation of screening committees for five poll-bound states. Priyanka Gandhi’s leadership of the Assam panel signals that the Congress is undertaking extensive election preparations in the state.
Screening Committee Members and their Responsibilities

Their primary task will be to prepare the list of candidates and conduct a comprehensive consultation process within the party before the elections. This committee is crucial for the party, as the complex electoral landscape in Assam means that the selection of the right candidates can significantly impact the election results. The Congress hopes that the work of this committee will strengthen its position in the assembly elections.
Screening Committees Formed for Other States as well
In addition to Assam, the Congress has also formed screening committees for Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and West Bengal. The Kerala committee will be chaired by Madhusudan Mistry, with Syed Naseer Hussain, Neeraj Dangi, and Abhishek Dutt as members. For Tamil Nadu and Puducherry, T.S. These appointments mark a crucial phase in the Congress party’s election preparations, with senior leaders entrusted with the responsibility of candidate selection and managing internal strategy. This strategy could prove decisive for the party, as choosing the right candidates and maintaining party unity in these states will be key factors influencing the election results. Through this effort, the Congress is attempting to strengthen its position in the Northeast and other states.
