Sedition case against AIUDF MLA Aminul Islam

In this case, MLA Aminul Islam of opposition party AIUDF has also been arrested. He has been accused of sedition because he allegedly supported Pakistan and made controversial statements about the Pahalgam terror attack. After keeping him in police custody for five days, he has now been sent to judicial custody. The court of Chief Judicial Magistrate of Nagaon has also rejected his bail plea. It is clear from this that the government will not tolerate anti-national statements under any circumstances.

Pahalgam attack and vigilance of administration

On April 22, 26 people were killed in a terrorist attack in Baisaran area of Pahalgam in Jammu and Kashmir. After this incident, security agencies across the country have become alert and social media is being monitored closely. Assam police also raided several places in this regard and arrested those who were speaking in favour of Pakistan or making statements against the integrity of India. The administration says that such statements can create communal tension and hence strictness is necessary.
