Assam News: The Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) successfully carried out the first drone-based cleaning drive at Kamakhya railway station in Assam. A senior official gave this information on Sunday. The aim of this campaign was to clean the high-altitude and difficult places of the station premises, as well as the roofs and exteriors of train coaches. It was a demonstration of the possibilities of using drone technology to improve cleanliness and hygiene.
Role of drones in cleaning high-altitude places
NFR Chief Public Relations Officer Kapinjal Kishore Sharma said that the operation covered the sick line, under-floor wheel lath shed, outer dome of the station and several train coaches of Kamakhya Coaching Depot. This operation demonstrated the capability of drone technology to reach and clean high and difficult places with ease and precision.
Drone-based cleaning will increase efficiency
Sharma said that this initiative reflects the commitment of NFR to adopt new technology and innovations in cleaning work. Drone based cleaning not only improves efficiency and accuracy, but it also reduces the reliance on manual labour at hazardous or elevated locations. This successful pilot campaign has opened the doors for wider implementation of drone based cleaning at other major stations and trains across the NFR network in the future.

Sharma also said that this initiative is in sync with Indian Railways’ vision of adopting latest and smart maintenance practices that are at par with international standards. Northeast Frontier Railway is moving ahead with smart and technologically advanced innovations, leading to a cleaner, safer and more efficient railway environment, which is beneficial not only for passengers but also for railway personnel.
