Assam News: English has been removed from government offices Assamese will now be spoken in Assam

Assam News: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has made a big announcement on the occasion of Assam New Year. Now all the orders, notifications and laws of the state government will be compulsorily issued in Assamese language. This rule has been implemented from Tuesday and its order has been issued by the Governor.

Special language exemption for Barak and BTR

The Chief Minister said that Bengali will be used in Barak Valley and Bodo language in BTR i.e. Bodoland. This means that importance will be given to its local identity and language in every region. The government is taking this decision by understanding the sensitivity of these areas.

Documents will be in dual language along with English

The state government has clarified that all government orders, acts, rules, files related to transfer and appointment will now be issued in both Assamese and English. All old notifications and laws will also be translated into Assamese, Bodo and Bengali in two years.

Use of English will remain in contact with the Center and in the judiciary

It has also been made clear in this order that English will be used for contact with the central government and other states. If there is any confusion or legal difference in any law or order, then in that case only the English document will be recognized.

Government suggested technical solution for translation

The state government has advised the officials to use an app called “Anuvaad Bhashini” for translation from English to Assamese, Bodo and Bengali. This app will make the translation process easier and faster so that there will be no language barrier in administrative work.
