Assam News: A woman from Assam’s Golaghat district has been arrested by the Guwahati Crime Branch. The woman is accused of making “seditious” statements on the terrorist attack in Pahalgam Jammu and Kashmir. The woman has been identified as Dadhichi Dimple alias Dimple Barua. Police said that the woman was arrested for her controversial and anti-national statements. She was later handed over to the Golaghat police and arrested and brought to the Golaghat police station.
Controversial statement after Pahalgam terror attack
On April 22 terrorists attacked tourists in Pahalgam Jammu and Kashmir in which 26 people were killed. After this incident the statement made by the woman from Assam created a ruckus. The woman had made statements in support of Pakistan. The woman was arrested after the Assam government took strict action. Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma also gave his strong reaction in this matter.
Himanta Biswa Sarma’s tough stand
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma made it clear that his government will not tolerate any statement in support of Pakistan in Assam. He said that strict action will be taken against such statements. Sarma said that action is being taken by the police against those making such statements and it will be closely monitored in future as well. He also said that eight to nine people have already been arrested.
Arrest of leaders who made statements in support of Pakistan
The Assam government has also confirmed the arrest of some leaders in this case. Among them AIUDF MLA Aminul Islam is prominent. He was also arrested for making statements in support of Pakistan. Assam Police has also arrested several other persons who were making statements in support of Pakistan on social media. Sarma justified these arrests and said that such activities will not be tolerated in Assam.
Assam government’s strict action continues
Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma posted on social media that Assam Police has taken strict action against persons making statements in support of Pakistan and spreading it on social media. He further said that the series of arrests will continue and such persons will not be spared. The Assam government clarified its policy and said that strict action will be taken against anyone who supports Pakistan.
