Assam News: After the Pahalgam terror attack, the government’s grip on anti-national activities in Assam is getting tighter. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said on Monday that three more people have been arrested from three districts of the state. So far, a total of 71 people have been detained for being involved in anti-national activities. The CM gave this information on social media platform X (earlier Twitter). He said that the arrests have been made from Kokrajhar, Goalpara and South Salmara-Mankachar districts.
Strict monitoring of government on digital platform as well
Chief Minister Sarma wrote in his post that “So far 71 anti-nationals are behind the jail. Assam Police is keeping a close watch on the digital space.” The government says that social media and other online mediums are being used for inflammatory statements and anti-national activities. Therefore, police and intelligence agencies are monitoring these platforms. Immediate action is being taken on any kind of suspicious activity. The government has also appealed to the public to inform the police about anti-national elements.

Opposition MLA Aminul Islam accused of sedition
Earlier, All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) MLA Aminul Islam was also arrested in a sedition case. He is accused of defending Pakistan and trying to justify Pakistan’s role in the Pahalgam attack. He was first arrested in a sedition case and then re-detained under the National Security Act (NSA) after getting bail. This arrest has become a new turn in the politics of the state and the opposition is constantly questioning the intentions of the government.
CM’s tough stand on ‘Pakistan Zindabad’ slogans
Chief Minister Sarma has already made it clear that slogans like Pakistan Zindabad will not be tolerated in the state. On May 2, he had given a statement that if anyone raises such slogans after the terrorist attack in Jammu and Kashmir, strict action will be taken against him. He also said that this matter is above politics and no concession will be given in this. The state government is paying special attention to ensure that any kind of anti-national thinking does not develop in Assam.
