Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sharma launched the statewide ‘Mukhyamantri Nijut Moina Asoni 2.0‘ scheme from Guwahati University. The scheme will provide direct financial assistance to more than four lakh girl students of Assam in the 2025-26 academic session. The main objective of the scheme is to motivate daughters for education and keep them away from social evils like child marriage. The Chief Minister has described it as a “new war against child marriage”.
Girls of every level will get direct benefit
Under this scheme, higher secondary girl students will get assistance of ₹ 1,000 every month. Undergraduate girl students will be given ₹ 1,250 and postgraduate girl students will be given ₹ 2,500 every month. Also, girl students studying in B.Ed course will also be able to avail the benefits of the scheme. This will reduce the financial obstacles in the education of daughters and they will be able to continue their studies without interruption.

The application process will be simple and digital
The application process for this scheme has been kept completely digital. The girl students will have to apply through their educational institutions and their data will be uploaded on SCERT, Darpan and Samarth portals. This will maintain transparency and the beneficiaries will get financial assistance on time. Last year, more than 1.6 lakh girl students were benefited from this scheme.
A strong attack on child marriage through education
The Chief Minister clarified that the ‘Nijut Moina 2.0’ scheme is not just financial help but the beginning of a social revolution. This scheme is a strong effort towards stopping child marriage. When daughters become self-reliant and study, they will take their own decisions and stand equally in the society.
Dreams will fly, daughters will become self-reliant
Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sharma said that we are giving wings of education to daughters so that they can make a strong place in the society. The aim of the government is that no daughter should leave her studies midway just due to lack of money. This scheme is a concrete step towards making Assam a child marriage free and educationally prosperous state.
