Assam: Indigo’s new initiative! Small cities of Assam will get big air facility

There is a big good news about air connectivity in Assam. Indigo Airlines has announced new flights to connect various cities of Assam with other parts of India. Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sharma shared this information on his X (earlier Twitter) account. He said that the Delhi-Dibrugarh flight will now have a stopover in Guwahati, which will give passengers the benefit of morning travel. The Chief Minister said that he had recently met the leadership of Indigo in New Delhi and demanded from them to increase air services to major areas like Silchar, Dibrugarh and North Lakhimpur.

Indigo fulfilled the old demand of passengers

Chief Minister Sharma said that Indigo understood the long-standing demand of the passengers and has decided to change its timetable. Now the morning Guwahati-Silchar flight will be started, which will make travel between the two cities easier. The Chief Minister said that IndiGo has included Guwahati-Navi Mumbai service in its upcoming plans which will start in the winter of 2025-26. This will improve connectivity between Assam and Western India and provide new facilities to the passengers.

New services can be available from Lilabari Airport soon

The Chief Minister further said that IndiGo has also assured to consider the possibility of starting its scheduled operation from Lilabari Airport in North Lakhimpur. If this happens, the passengers of North Assam will get a big relief because till now they had to come to Guwahati or Dibrugarh for air travel. Apart from this, direct flight is also going to start soon between Delhi-Jorhat which will be another big achievement for Assam. The Chief Minister said that all these new flights will take the air connectivity of Assam to a new level.

Chief Minister Sharma thanked IndiGo Airlines for giving a quick response and said that he hopes that in future also IndiGo will continue to provide excellent service to the people of Assam. He said that these steps will not only bring relief to the passengers but will also boost the economic and tourism activities of Assam. The Chief Minister said that the government is committed to making Assam the gateway to North-East India and for this it is very important to strengthen air connectivity. In the coming days, the state government will work on more new schemes in collaboration with other airlines so that Assam can be easily connected to every corner of the country.
