The Assam government has launched and expanded the third phase of its flagship financial assistance program, “Oranudoi.” Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma described the scheme as the state’s largest women’s welfare and poverty alleviation program. He stated that over 3.8 million families will now receive direct benefits under the scheme. In a social media post, the Chief Minister wrote that each woman will receive a monthly direct benefit of ₹1,250, plus an additional ₹250 on the purchase of an LPG cylinder.
Poverty Alleviation and Improvement of Living Standards
Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma emphasized the success of the scheme, saying that many families have been freed from the shackles of poverty and are now living a dignified life. He said that the scheme not only provided financial assistance but also provided women and poor families with the opportunity to become self-reliant. He also clarified that the government will continuously expand the scheme and make every effort to increase its effectiveness so that no poor person is left out.

Additional Benefits and Social Support of the Scheme
In addition to Oranudoi 3.0, the Assam government also mentioned several other social welfare schemes. These include free rice, subsidized pulses, cooking gas cylinders, free education, promotion of girl child education, and free medical care. The Chief Minister explained that all these measures are aimed at poverty alleviation and ensuring social justice in the state. He said that through Oranudoi 3.0, the state has created a comprehensive safety net that provides assistance to poor and needy families in line with the spirit of ‘Antyodaya’.
‘Special Surprise’ in February
The Chief Minister hinted at the future of the scheme, saying that a special surprise would be added to the scheme in February. However, he did not share further details. He said that the government is continuously taking new initiatives for the welfare of the poor and women, and that the scope of the scheme will be further expanded in the future. Through Oranudoi 3.0, the Assam government has conveyed that poverty alleviation, women empowerment, and social security are being given top priority in the state.
