The Assam State Election Commission (ASEC) on Wednesday released the final photo voter list for 40 constituencies of the Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC). The publication comes following the delimitation notification No. E-344949/1364 dated June 25, 2025, which included 81 new villages in the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR). The official statement highlighted that the final voter list has now been made available to ensure transparency and facilitate voter participation ahead of the upcoming BTC elections.
Total Voters and Gender Distribution
According to the final voter list, the total number of registered voters across the 40 BTC constituencies stands at 26,58,477. Of these, 13,23,673 are male voters, 13,34,787 are female, and 17 voters fall under the ‘others’ category. This detailed breakdown is expected to help authorities manage electoral logistics efficiently. The gender balance in voter registration highlights the emphasis on inclusive participation, ensuring that all eligible citizens, irrespective of gender, are accounted for in the electoral process.
Polling Stations and Rationalisation
The total number of polling stations set up for the BTC elections is 3,279. However, this figure may change as the final list of polling stations is scheduled to be published on August 18 after rationalisation is completed. The rationalisation process aims to streamline voter access, making polling stations more convenient and accessible to all voters. The Election Commission has stressed that careful planning of polling station locations is key to ensuring a smooth and hassle-free voting experience.
Access to Voter List and Verification
The final voter list will be available for public access at various government offices, including Circle Officers, Block Development Officers, Municipalities, Town Committees, Sub-Registrar offices, Police Stations, Tea Gardens, and Village Panchayat/Gram Parishad Development Committee offices across respective constituencies. Additionally, voters can access the list online through the Online Electoral Roll Management System (OERMS) at https://ermssec.assam.gov.in and the official websites of district administrations. Citizens can verify their names using their EPIC numbers or download the final list specific to their polling station from the Citizen Corner.
Encouraging Voter Participation
To further encourage voter participation and enroll more eligible voters, the Election Commission has decided to accept claims for inclusion in the BTC electoral roll until the last date for filing nominations. This applies to individuals eligible under the current summary revision exercise of the ECI whose names appear in the ECI supplementary roll and who possess a valid EPIC. The move aims to ensure maximum voter enrollment, reflecting the commitment of the Assam State Election Commission to inclusive and transparent democratic processes in the Bodoland Territorial Region.
