Assam: Crisis looms on the borders of Bajali! List of demands sent to the Chief Minister

Assam: The concern of the local people regarding the boundaries of Bajli district has once again come to the fore. A delegation of the 40-member security committee of the district has sent a memorandum to Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sharma seeking a permanent solution to this problem. It was told through the memorandum that the boundaries of the district have not been fixed for the last four years, due to which many administrative problems have arisen.

Many demands expressed through the memorandum

Apart from demarcation, the delegation has also included many other important demands in the memorandum sent to the Chief Minister through the District Development Officer. These include the demand to shift the headquarters of the district and also an appeal to reopen Bajli College, which has been converted into Bhattdev University. Along with this, there is also a demand to shift the divisional and sub-divisional offices of the Irrigation Department to Pathsala.

Administrative system is incomplete even after four years

Although the announcement of making Bajli a district was made on the old demand of the public, the administrative structure is still incomplete. This district, formed by combining Patacharkuchi and Bhabanipur assembly constituencies, is still waiting for its clear boundary determination. Not only is this hindering development work, but the establishment of government offices is also hanging in the balance.

Confusion even after new constituencies

With the creation of the district, two new constituencies were also created – Bajali and Bhabanipur-Sorbhog. But due to lack of clarity about the boundaries, there is confusion in administrative and political work. This is not only causing trouble to the general public but also making it difficult for the officials to work.

Demands of local people intensify

Many people including delegation president Giridhar Chaudhary, secretary Bijan Bayan and Samudra Patragiri have signed the memorandum together. They have demanded from the government that the demarcation should be done as soon as possible so that the activities of the district administration can be conducted properly. Along with this, a demand has also been made to build a flyover on the road connecting Pathsala and Sartebari so that traffic facilities can be improved.
