Following the devastating explosion near Delhi’s Red Fort Metro station, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has issued a comprehensive security alert across the state. At least eight people were killed and several others injured in the blast. The incident has raised serious security concerns across the country. Speaking to the media in Raha, Chief Minister Sarma stated that police have been instructed to monitor suspicious activities in the state and investigate those on social media who are supporting the attack.
Social Media to be Monitored
The Chief Minister stated that he has directed the Director General of Police to closely monitor all suspicious activity on social media. Those who posted messages and emojis praising the blast are being identified. If they are found to be residents of Assam, strict action will be taken against them under stringent anti-terrorism laws. Sarma also made it clear that anyone who praises violence or celebrates the loss of innocent lives or property would be aiding terrorism, and strict action would be taken against them.
Security tightened at public places
The state government has increased security at public places across Assam, including the capital. Special vigilance is being maintained at railway stations, airports, and bus terminals. Police in Guwahati have also deployed drones for surveillance. Strict checks are also being conducted on passengers and vehicles to prevent any suspicious object or person. All these measures are aimed at ensuring public safety and preventing the impact of a national security threat.

The blast near the Red Fort Metro station on Monday evening has sparked a security panic across the country. The central government has ordered all states to remain on alert and strengthen counter-terrorism preparedness. The Assam government has also expressed its commitment to take all possible steps in this direction. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma reiterated that his government will not tolerate terrorism in any form. He categorically stated that any terrorist activity or glorification of terrorism will not be tolerated in Assam.
