Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma appealed to the central government not to send back the only woman who came from Pakistan

After the horrific terrorist attack in Pahalgam, the central government took a big decision. The government ordered all Pakistani citizens living in the country to leave India. The deadline for this order has also expired now. However, it is suspected that some Pakistani citizens may still be hiding in many parts of the country. In this episode, information has come to light about a Pakistani female citizen living in Assam. But Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma himself said that he does not want to send this woman back to Pakistan and for this he has requested the central government.

The only Pakistani female citizen in Assam

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Sunday informed that only one Pakistani citizen is living in the state. This woman is married to a man from Tinsukia district of Assam. During an official program in Dibrugarh, CM Sarma said that in view of the recent developments, the state government has contacted the central government for clarity on the status of foreigners. The Chief Minister said that apart from this woman, there is no other Pakistani citizen in Assam. However, he did not share much information about the woman.

Application for long term visa

Chief Minister Sarma further said that the Pakistani woman living in Tinsukia district has applied for a long term visa i.e. Long Term Visa (LTV). He said, “We have requested the central government to clarify in this matter whether this woman should be allowed to stay in India or sent back.” He also clarified that at present this is the only case in Assam and no other Pakistani citizen is present in the state. This matter now depends on the decision of the central government whether this woman will be allowed to stay in India or not.

Return of more than 500 Pakistanis in four days

After the Pahalgam terror attack, the central government took several strict steps against Pakistan. Under this, all Pakistanis with short visas were ordered to leave India. The deadline for these orders expired on Sunday. Heavy crowds were seen at the Attari-Wagah border of Punjab where people were lined up to return to their country. A total of 537 Pakistani citizens have left India within four days after the government’s order, i.e. from April 24 till now. These include 9 diplomats and officials. During the same period, 850 Indian citizens have also returned to India from Pakistan, including 14 officials. After this incident, tension between the two countries seems to be increasing and security agencies are also keeping an eye on every activity.
