The war between Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma and Gaurav Gogoi on social media intensifies

There is a fierce dispute going on on social media between Assam Chief Minister and BJP leader Himanta Biswa Sarma and Congress MP in Lok Sabha Gaurav Gogoi. Leaders of both the parties are accusing each other fiercely. Last Sunday, on April 27, Chief Minister Sarma posted a post on the social media platform X and showered questions on the Congress MP. Without naming the Congress MP, he asked serious questions about his Pakistan visit, wife’s salary and children’s citizenship.

Himanta Biswa Sarma raised sharp questions to Congress MP

In his post, Chief Minister Sarma asked three big questions to the Congress MP. The first question was whether he had traveled to Pakistan for 15 consecutive days and if yes, then what was the purpose behind it. The second question was whether his wife is taking salary from a Pakistan-based NGO while living in India and if so, then why is a Pakistani organization paying salary for the work being done in India. The third question was what is the citizenship of his wife and children, are they Indian citizens or have taken citizenship of any other country. These questions of Sarma have heated up the political atmosphere.

Gaurav Gogoi gave a befitting reply and raised his questions

Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi also immediately retaliated and fired three questions at X. Gogoi wrote that if the Chief Minister is unable to prove the allegations like treason leveled against him and his wife, will he resign from his post. The second question was whether the Chief Minister would ask similar questions to his children and wife. The third question was whether the state police would take action against the coal mafias who are ruining the mountains of Assam and building an empire of black money. This answer of Gogoi further intensified the debate.

The series of allegations and counter-allegations continues on social media

Even after Gaurav Gogoi’s retort, the series of allegations and counter-allegations on social media did not stop. Chief Minister Sarma then clarified his position by making another post. He wrote that neither he, nor his son nor daughter have ever visited Pakistan. He also said that his wife and any member of the family have never taken any financial assistance from Pakistan. He stressed that all the members of his family are Indian citizens and his children have never given up Indian citizenship. Sarma further wrote that sufficient evidence of the relationship between the Congress MP and Pakistan will be made public in the coming days and asked to wait till 10 September 2025 for this. In response to this, Gaurav Gogoi also re-shared his old tweet and reiterated his point. Now it will be interesting to see what is the outcome of this political war.
