AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi recently made a statement about a woman wearing a burqa becoming the Prime Minister, which has intensified political tensions across the country. Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma retaliated against Owaisi’s statement, and now Owaisi has accused him of having a “Pakistani mentality.” He also alleged that CM Sarma is unaware of the spirit of the Constitution.
Accusation of Pakistani Mentality
Responding to CM Sarma, Asaduddin Owaisi said, “He has a dim understanding. He has taken an oath on the Constitution. Where is all this written in the Constitution? He has a Pakistani mentality. That’s why the Pakistani constitution states that only a person from a particular community can become the Prime Minister of the country. Our country has the Constitution of Babasaheb Ambedkar, who knew more than Himanta Biswa Sarma. He was more educated than him.”

This country does not belong to any one religion – Owaisi
Owaisi further added, “It is unfortunate that these people neither understand the Constitution nor its spirit. And this country does not belong to any one religion or community. The beauty of this country is that it belongs even to those who do not believe in God or Allah. Their thinking is narrow. That’s why they make such petty statements.”
What did the Assam CM actually say?
CM Himanta Biswa Sarma had said, “There is no restriction in the Constitution regarding this. Anyone can become the Prime Minister. But, India is a Hindu nation. It has a Hindu civilization. We have always believed this, and we are fully confident that the Indian Prime Minister will always be a Hindu.”
What did Owaisi say in Maharashtra?
It is noteworthy that Owaisi had earlier said at a rally in Maharashtra that one day a woman wearing a burqa would become the Prime Minister of this country. There is no restriction on this in the Constitution. Several BJP leaders have criticized Owaisi for this statement.
