The year 2025 proved to be exceptional for Apple in India. According to reports, the company achieved its best-ever performance in terms of iPhone shipments this year. While the country’s overall smartphone market remained relatively stable, Apple rapidly strengthened its position. This year, the company sold approximately 14 million iPhones. Growing demand and local manufacturing played a crucial role in this growth.

Massive Surge in iPhone Shipments in India
According to a report citing market data from Counterpoint Research, iPhone shipments in India reached nearly 14 million units in 2025. Along with this, Apple’s market share increased to a record 9 percent, up from approximately 7 percent in 2024. This is considered Apple’s strongest year ever in India. This achievement is significant for the company in the world’s second-largest smartphone market.

Why Apple’s Grip on the Indian Market Strengthened
According to analysts, there are several reasons behind Apple’s success. The company’s product portfolio now spans from the iPhone 17 series to the iPhone 16 series and the iPhone 16e. In addition, better availability across both online and offline channels, along with financing options such as no-cost EMI and bank offers, also boosted sales. This made premium iPhones more accessible to a wider range of users.

Smartphone Market Stable, Yet Apple Grows
The report also revealed that India’s total smartphone shipments in 2025 remained around 152 to 153 million units. This means that the overall market did not show significant growth. Despite this, Apple succeeded in increasing its market share. This indicates that the demand for iPhones in the premium segment continues to be strong.

Made in India iPhones Set New Export Record
Apple is gradually shifting its manufacturing base outside of China, and India is playing a crucial role in this. According to Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, the total shipment value of iPhones manufactured in India has now reached $50 billion, or approximately ₹4.51 lakh crore. Under the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme, Apple, through contract manufacturers like Foxconn, exported iPhones worth approximately $16 billion in the first nine months of FY26 alone.
