Union Home Minister Amit Shah will arrive in Guwahati on Thursday on a two-day visit. During this, he will participate in the BJP’s core committee meeting, in which there will be an in-depth discussion about the assembly elections to be held next year. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma told in a press conference on Wednesday that soon after Shah’s arrival, he will attend a meeting at the party headquarters and will also talk to BJP leaders over dinner. Sarma said that the upcoming elections are very important for the party and Shah himself has a special interest in the state’s politics and election strategy.
Busy schedule on the second day
Shah’s schedule will be very busy on Friday. He will first inaugurate the Brahmaputra wing of the newly constructed Raj Bhavan. After this, he will e-inaugurate the National Cyber Forensic Laboratory and e-inaugurate and lay the foundation stone of several development projects for ITBP, SSB and Assam Rifles. These projects will help in strengthening security and infrastructure in the North-East region.
Shah will attend Panchayat Sammelan and Golap Borbora’s birth centenary celebrations
On Friday afternoon, Shah will address the ‘Panchayat Sammilan’, a conference of newly elected NDA panchayat members. This clearly shows the strategy of strengthening the BJP’s hold at the grassroots level. In the evening, he will inaugurate the birth centenary celebrations of Assam’s first non-Congress Chief Minister Golap Borbora. After this, he will leave for Delhi late in the evening. Let us tell you that this visit of Shah was earlier scheduled for August 29 only, but after the amendment in the program, it was extended for two days.
PM Modi’s Assam tour also changed
Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma also informed that due to the Vice Presidential election on September 9, Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s proposed Assam visit on September 8 will now be held on September 13-14. Although the program scheduled for the beginning of Bhupen Hazarika’s birth centenary year will be held in Assam on September 8, but Prime Minister Modi will formally address the occasion on September 13. Thus, the continued presence of the top BJP leadership in Assam over the next few days makes it clear that the party is fully active and serious about the upcoming assembly elections in the state.
