A grand passing out parade was held at the prestigious Lachit Borphukan Police Academy (LBPA) in Dergaon, Assam, marking the successful completion of 43 weeks of rigorous training for 700 recruits of Goa Police. In this ceremony, 569 male and 131 female policemen received intensive training in physical fitness, mental endurance, regional strategy, law and order management and use of weapons. The event was not only a proud moment for the trainees but also an example of interstate cooperation between Assam, Goa and Manipur.
The ceremony was concluded in the presence of Chief Minister and senior officials
On this special occasion, Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma and Goa Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant were present as the chief guests. Along with this, senior police officers and family members of the trainees were also present. These trainees of Goa Police reached LBPA by special train in early October 2024 and completed their training along with the personnel of Assam and Manipur. This unique training regime provided an opportunity to share professional experiences and strengthened the bond between the police forces of these states. The parade included a disciplined march past, oath taking ceremony, award distribution and skill demonstration by the “Panthers on Wheels” unit.

Goa CM lauds training
Goa Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant lauded the “high quality” training provided by the Assam government and LBPA. He said the training not only equipped the trainees with new skills but also forged strong ties between Goa and Assam. He recalled Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of ‘Akhand Bharat’ and said that well-trained police forces will play a key role in achieving the goal of a developed India by 2047. Dr Sawant termed such inter-state training programmes as an important step to promote national unity and security.

Assam CM guarantees preparedness of the academy
Assam Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma too echoed the same sentiment in his address and termed the occasion a proud moment for Assam. He thanked the Goa government for entrusting the training of its police trainees to the LBPA. Dr Sarma said the academy, which was inaugurated by Home Minister Amit Shah, is a symbol of Assam and India’s commitment to policing excellence. He said the academy is ready to train police personnel from any state in India. He described the friendly relations between Assam and Goa as a significant contribution to national integration and security.
